Hi Paul!

I'm familiar with your work and I absolutely loved your book 'Seeing Nature', in particular, the upward spiral of life as applied to ethics; for years my mantra had been that 'Life Creates Conditions Conducive to Life' and you shed new light no the permaculture ethics of Care of Earth, Care of People, and Return of Surplus. I have shared some of your storied with students and have highly recommended your book many times.

An Opportunity to collaborate would be welcome. Also, the Jasper Place Permaculture blog can be found at http://permacultureschool.ca

Hello, kindred soul,
It sounds like we are doing similar work, both in terms of permaculture and education. My wife and I created Chrysalis Charter School down here in California, K-8 grades, with a mission of "encouraging the light within each student to shine brigher". We might be able to nourish something together.

I have never met a farmer that did not have a bunch of hats by the door. Every seed and chemical and equipment dealer always gives away a free hat. Some farmers nail them to fence posts just to display their collection. I travel down a highway once a year, and on the way there I travel over a mile where there are over 100 hats nailed to fence posts. They are all different. Of course there will always be the favorite one on the head of the farmer.

Sustainable and pollution free transportation is the way of the future. Why does every human being need to leave so much pollution behind them when ever they decide to go someplace. Transportation should be as pollution free and invisible as possible. It does not have to be in your face and dangerous to all that is around it. To go from one place to another should be simple and virtually free meaning not costing much to do. We are talking about local community transportation needs. The new status symbol is fitness and wellness and health. Health of community and yourself and your mindset. Everywhere from Amsterdam to Times Square New York cities are making the choices to create pedestrian accessible zones. Like the permanent closing of parts of Times Square to traffic. Reducing pollution in areas that are full of pedestrians. I have used the bike as a reliable and very stress free way of transportation. Its quicker than walking and very cost efficient compared to the frustration with costs and driving a fossil fuel based car in a never moving rush hour. The Bicycle gets me almost everywhere in a city and when combined with the bus or LRT is very efficient. Would not trade it for the world when it comes to accessing downtown and Whyte avenue with ease and speed and front door parking! Very fast with errands that is why bike couriers use bikes! If its urgent its the way to be! Cant do things in cars like small errands if its urgent and downtown. Its fun and great fitness. You don't need to be huffing and puffing all the time. Most people drive to work and back and wait in traffic. If more people did not have to commute from the burbs so much we can reduce allot of car use. Local groceries and banking and hair cuts and we don't need to drive all the time. Its fun to bike. Travel more with the money saved!

http://greenedmonton.ca/ Conrad Norbert's Website for Green Edmonton should be included in your links. I would also Like to see the local land trust http://www.ealt.ca/
and our local watershed and our local Airshed http://www.capitalairshed.ca/

I think it would be wonderful if each league felt compelled to join their local airshed, watershed and local land trust.

Thanks

Sometimes it's hats. Sometimes it's old boots. I've always thought it was just because they had lots of hats or boots and wanted to be playful with them. If there's some deeper meaning, I don't know what it is.
